Android 12 plans to snitch about what your apps do: the future privacy panel is leaked

Android 12 It is already among us although it has not yet been presented as it deserves. What we know about him has come through the previous versions for developers and of the different leaks that have been happening. Now, we have some information on future changes in the privacy section of the system.

In the Android 12 Developer Preview we have already seen some changes in terms of privacy and security in the system, but there are still more to come. The latest leak tells us that Android 12 could include a privacy board with quick accesses and summarized information within its settings, a ‘Privacy Dashboard’ that had been rumored in the past and that could come true this afternoon, when the system appears in the Google I / O in all its glory.

A quick glance to know the delicate parts of the phone in use

According to different sources close to Google, such as this one from The Information, Americans work hard to that security and privacy are part of the most reinforced aspects of Android 12 due today. So Google is focusing on improving these aspects and soon we could have a panel exclusively dedicated to privacy on the phone.

Some leaked screenshots show us what this ‘Privacy Dashboard’ included in Android 12 would be like, the exclusive panel in which we would have unified access to the information of which apps access which parts of the phone, whether software or hardware, related to privacy. A panel to see which apps use geolocation, camera, microphone and different apps and sensors on the phone.

The screenshots show us that Google would offer us a quick summary view of the accesses in the last 24 hours. Entering each of them (in the screenshots we can see the access to the phone’s camera) we would see which application has used that component and for how long. A) Yes we could know if some apps access parts of the phone when they should not.

The ‘Privacy Dashboard’ would closely resemble Apple’s privacy settings on iOS,

bringing the functionalities and features of both operating systems even closer. This filtered panel, however, could be even more complex as Google would be considering adding even more restrictions access to different parts of the system. We will see if this panel is unveiled today and, if so, see how it evolves through the different betas before its final release.
