The first Android 12 Developer Preview has been with us for a few days, with a lot of visible news and others that are yet to come. To this last group belongs a game bar whose existence we found out a week ago.
Developer Quinny899, of XDA, you have managed to activate the game bar in Android 12, so we have a first look at how will this possible game mode be that could arrive with the final version of the operating system.

We learned that one of the novelties of Android 12 could be a game mode a week ago, in a previous leak that still didn’t have many details. The Android code spoke of a “service to manage game functions”, although without further information on what form it would take.
Now, we get a first look after an XDA developer managed to unofficially activate the game bar game bar. At the moment not long ago: it shows two floating buttons superimposed on the screen.
One of the buttons starts the screen video recording, the same as the one available on Android, but with the advantage of not having to open the quick settings panel to start it. The second button, with a controller icon, does nothing at the moment, and the code doesn’t give much clue as to what it might do.
The idea of the game bar is not too different from that present in other layers of customization like MIUI although, obviously, the Android 12 at the moment has very few options. Hopefully Google add more features to said game bar before it officially sees the light. After all, it is not even officially accessible in the first Developer Preview yet.
Of course, it is possible that is an exclusive function of the Pixel and not from any mobile with Android 12 stock because, according to XDA, the function is found in the app com.google.android.systemui
instead of com.android.systemui
. Therefore it has ballots to be part of a future Pixel Feature Drop, it remains to be seen if Android 12 will bring more optimizations for games.
