Amazon Luna: Amazon’s game streaming service arrives to battle Stadia

Amazon has just presented a new range of products, within its Echo and Fire TV ranges. Although it is not the only novelty that will arrive in Spain that the firm has left us, since they have officially presented their own streaming service. Amazon Luna is the name of it and it becomes official after months of rumors about the company’s plans.

In this service we find a selection of more than 100 games, thanks to agreements they have closed with studios like Ubisoft. Amazon Luna will have a subscription priced at $ 5.99 per month, at least in its first months, in addition to having its own remote, in the purest Google Stadia style.

This is Amazon Luna: streaming Amazon games

Amazon Luna is Amazon’s video game streaming service, which at its launch will be available on Fire TV, PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad as a webapp. It has been confirmed that it will soon arrive on Android, although no dates have been given yet. For now it is in a preliminary phase in the United States, where it is only accessible by invitation, so this will still take a few months.

This service runs on Amazon AWS, the firm’s own servers. One of the aspects that have attracted the most attention is that it comes with its own control, following in the wake of Google Stadia. This remote is the Luna Controller, which does not connect to devices, but it will connect to the cloud directly. The company does this with the intention of reducing latency, for a better gaming experience. The controller will launch with a starting price of $ 49.99. It is an introductory offer and it is unknown what its final price will be. The remote is optional, as it supports keyboard and mouse, as well as Bluetooth remote. It is not yet known if Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported.

Amazon Luna will have an interesting operation, because it will work by channels. Therefore, we can subscribe to the Luna channel, the generic channel, but there will also be studio channels, such as Ubisoft, which has signed an agreement with Amazon. There will be more, but at the moment it is not known which ones, probably they are working on new agreements with other studios.

In the previous access phase on the Luna + channel (the generic one) you will have access to games such as ‘Resident Evil 7’, ‘Control’, ‘Panzer Dragoon’, ‘A Plague Tale: Innocence’, ‘The Surge 2’ , ‘GRID’, ‘ABZU’ or ‘Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons’. Also, it will have Full HD resolution in them, at 60 fps, but it has been promised that there will be games with 4K resolution at 60 fps. It is not yet known in which games this will be. The Ubisoft channel will have access to games from the studio, as well as new titles to be released such as’ Assassin’s Creed Valhalla ‘,’ Far Cry 6 and ‘Immortals Fenyx Rising’.

Amazon has not let the opportunity to integrate Luna on Twitch. Since this is going to allow streamers to broadcast live games on the Amazon platform. Thanks to this, users who are watching that video will be able to launch the game directly.

Requirements

Amazon Luna isn’t going to have too many hardware requirements. A fast and stable internet connection will be needed, with a minimum recommended speed of 10 Mbps in this case. Although if you want to play in 4K, it becomes 35 Mbps. In the case of using phones, it can be accessed using mobile data, but consumption can be up to 10 GB per hour, so it is reserved for users with unlimited rates.

Price and availability

At the moment the early access phase is available only in the United States and by invitation, as we mentioned before. The starting price is $ 5.99 per month, but this will only be during this phase. It is not known when it will cost when it is launched in the global market, we will have to wait for news in that regard. There is also no data on its international launch, in terms of dates. We have to wait for Amazon to give more clues.

The entry Amazon Luna: Amazon’s game streaming service arrives to fight with Stadia appears first in The Free Android.
