Well, there are different ways to use this certificate on your smartphone: from opening the PDF directly as a file to install it on mobile payment apps, like Google Pay or Huawei Wallet. We teach you all the ways.

What was initially proposed to facilitate travel within Europe could become the key to access different leisure activities: the Covid Certificate has become not only a medical tool, but also a kind of safe conduct. You have to keep the same precautions whether you have it or not, but there is no doubt that the Covid Certificate can be very useful; hence it is convenient to always carry it with you.

The certificate is a document that certifies one of the three medical assumptions: that the person was vaccinated (whether or not they have the full schedule), that they have recently had a negative test or that they have passed the disease. If you meet any of these three requirements, you can easily download your Covid Certificate in two different ways:

  • Through the health application of your Autonomous Community. Install the app that corresponds to you, register and in it you will see a “Covid Certificate” section. Download it to the phone and you will have it in PDF format.
  • Through the Ministry of Health. It is a process that requires having a Cl @ ve or digital certificate: it is accessed through this website of the Ministry. Follow the steps and, after completing them, you will receive a notification along with the link to the PDF with the Covid Certificate.

With both methods you get the same result: the Covid Certificate in PDF format. Our recommendation is that you print it: taking it on paper is very practical if you are going to travel. You can put it together with all your travel documents (passport, plane tickets, hotel reservations …) to be able to show it even if your phone runs out of battery.

Printing the Covid Certificate is highly recommended: carrying it on paper ensures that you can teach it even if the mobile runs out of battery

In addition to taking it on paper, it also seems important to us save it to phone as PDF. The file you download can be opened directly on your mobile without you having to do anything else. And you can add a shortcut to the desktop to make it faster to open:

  • Open Google Drive and upload the Covid Certificate to your drive.
  • Once it is uploaded, click on the three points of the file to display the Drive options.
  • Choose “Add to home screen“A shortcut will be created on your desktop.
  • Move the shortcut where you want.

Once you have the icon on your desktop, you will open the PDF of the Covid Certificate just by clicking on it. So you can teach it in seconds, even without an Internet connection.

The Covid Certificate in Google Pay

Having the PDF on the phone, in addition to being printed on paper, you don’t need anything else: any other method will only work if you use the relevant app and it is convenient for you to have the Covid Certificate there. As with Google Pay: since it is the default payment application on Android, having the Certificate saved in your account guarantees that you can on any other device that you synchronize, including watches with Wear OS.

To install the Covid Certificate in Google Pay we will use third party services and applications. Since

there is private medical data in the document, there is always the risk that other people can access it. The software that we will recommend is safe and private, but you must assess its use and if it suits you.
