GIFs have become, over the years, an established way of expressing a feeling or a pill of information. Why? Because a picture is worth a thousand words. And, because, in a context where it is not possible to speak (and to write too lazy), it is the best way to make clear what is intended and how it is intended to be said. On the Internet there are many sites that allow us to find them, and even applications for Android that function as repositories of existing material. But sometimes even those vast stores may fall short when we try to synthesize something. If it has happened to you, do not despair anymore: in this article we will teach you how to create your own GIFs with your Android phone.
How to make GIF from a photo
The easiest way to do this is through Google Photos. The app usually comes pre-installed on most Android devices, so you should find it on your phone.

To create a GIF from different photos in your collection, it is as simple as opening the app, selecting the ones that interest you, and then clicking on the cross button:
Selection of photos to animate in Google Photos
In the menu that will appear, click on Animation:
Button to create animation in Google Photos
Google Photos will automatically create an animation with the images we have selected and will play it for us afterwards.
How to make GIFs on Android with apps
First of all, download and install the Giphy application, which you can find right here.

When you have it, open it and click on Create:

The app It will ask for your permission to access your device’s camera and personal storage. Grant it and your terminal’s camera will open, allowing you to take photos and videos from the application itself. You can apply different filters to these photos and videos, very similar to those you have seen in the Instagram stories:
Giphy filters
It would be enough to press and hold the button that would be the equivalent of the phone’s camera to create the GIF with an image taken at the moment. When we have done it we will see this on the screen:
GIF created ready to edit
Just below the image we have four editing tools:
- Text: we can enter the text we want to give greater emphasis to what the GIF expresses.
- Image Effects: allows us to manipulate the appearance of the image through a few predefined filters.
- Stickers: as in the stories of Instagram, we can insert different stickers to beautify the final result.
- Trim: finally, Giphy gives us the option to shorten the length of the GIF if we wish.
When we are done, we will have to press the arrow button in the lower right corner of the screen to share the GIF, save it in the memory of our terminal or upload it to Giphy.
Alternatively, you can also import content from the gallery by clicking the button in the lower left corner of the screen. When we do, a view of a file explorer will open:
Search for a video to create a GIF
If we select any of them, firstly Giphy will ask us if we want to adjust the length of the GIF or select what its starting point should be. When we finish, click on Continue:

When we do it, we will be presented with the same options as when we created the GIF from the camera of our terminal. When we have left it to our liking, click on the arrow to save it, share it or upload it to Giphy.
How to make GIFs on Android without apps
The first thing you will have to do is take a photo or record a video with your mobile. If you make a video, try not to be too long. It is important that you have this step done beforehand, since although the solution that we are going to give you allows you to do this, it tends to fail with some regularity. Better to play it safe.
The next thing is to enter the EZGIF Maker website, which will open the following on the screen of our phone:
EZGIF Maker main view
If we click on Choose Files, a file explorer will open from where we can choose the photos that interest us. When we have them, we will click on Select:
Selecting images to create a GIF
Finally, click on Upload and make a GIF!:

A window will open in which we can change the rotation speed of the GIF images if we wish. Finally, we do scroll towards the end of the screen and click on Make a GIF! to create it:
Editing and creating the GIF
As you can see, creating a GIF is a very simple process if you know how to do it. With the information we give you, you shouldn’t have any problem creating your own.
