9 years later have managed to port Android 11 to this Galaxy S2, thanks to an unofficial ROM from LineageOS. This is a milestone, since there are hundreds of high and mid-range that have been left without support even for LineageOS, while the small S2 is capable of installing it.
Android 11 in a Samsung Galaxy from 2011
As we read in XDA Developers, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has received LineageOS 18.1 unofficially, based on Android 11, the latest version of Android. They have done it for the variant GT-I9100 (There are several versions of the S2) and they have managed to get the WiFi, camera, Bluetooth, phone sensors and so on. In the same way, the SIM also works to receive calls, although at the moment we cannot call from the phone.
What they have failed to get working is GPS, Magisk root support and FM radio, although there is hope that these bugs will be fixed in future versions. It is a ROM to test Android 11 on an S2, which is not little, but not for day-to-day use.
If you want to install this ROM you will have to do it using ODIN, the well-known software to install files on Samsung phones. Through this, we can install TWRP Recovery and the ROM itself. Without a doubt, if we have an S2 that we do not use at home, it will be a great experience to see it running the latest version of Android.
