Sony does not want to waste time and wait until a few weeks have passed since the PlayStation 5 is released to provide this application with that support. Within weeks of the new console hitting the market, the firm ensures that Remote Play will be ready for arrival of this new generation. The new version of the application is already launching on the Play Store.

This is version 4.0.0 of the application where this support is introduced already. Also, the application changes its name, since it now becomes PS Remote Play, instead of PS4 Remote Play as was the case until now. Users will be able to use this app with both the PS4 and the PlayStation 5 when it launches in November.

This application came officially in October last year to the Play Store for all Android users. In its beginnings, it was an application compatible with select Sony Xperia phones only, although last year Sony decided to extend its compatibility, allowing any user with Android 5.0 or higher to use the application. In this new version it is required to have a phone using Android 6.0 Lollipop or higher to work.

In addition, the design of the application has been renewed and the possibility of assigning buttons on the consoles is introduced. This revamped version of Remote Play, with support for the PlayStation 5 can be downloaded from the Play Store, in addition to in APK.
