Samsung uses its own Exynos processors in the phones they launch in Spain. Throughout this year, the manufacturer has introduced several processors, such as Exynos 850 or Exynos 880. Now They have made their new Exynos 1080 processor official, which is a chip manufactured in a 5 nanometer process, as confirmed by the brand itself.
This new Exynos 1080 is manufactured in the same 5nm manufacturing process as other processors such as Snapdragon 875, which will allow better power management in phones to use it. In addition, Samsung will not be the first to use this processor, but we will see it in a Vivo smartphone before the end of the year.
New Samsung Exynos 850: a 4G processor for the mid-rangeThe Exynos 850 is now official and is Samsung’s new mid-range processor, which is intended for the brand’s more modest mid-range.
This is Exynos 1080
The new Exynos 1080 that Samsung has introduced uses the new ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores together with the Mali-G78 GPU, all of them presented this spring. According to ARM, the A78s provide a 20% improvement in CPU performance over the previous generation, while the G78 GPU improves graphics performance by 25%.
This processor is targets the most powerful mid-range of the market, so we will surely see it in models within the Samsung mid-range. Although, as we have mentioned, Vivo will be the first to release it on a phone that will hit the market before the end of the year, which could be the Vivo X60. This chip is seen as a successor to the Exynos 980 that the brand presented last year, also intended for the more powerful mid-range.
Samsung has also revealed the scores that this Exynos 1080 has obtained in AnTuTu, during an interview in China with the director of the Samsung China Semiconductor Research Institute, Dr. Pan Xuebao. In it, it has been commented that this processor has obtained a score of 650,000 points, which makes it have a higher score than processors like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 and 865 Plus.
It seems that this processor would be specific for the Chinese market, although this is not 100% confirmed. In addition to this Exynos 1080, Samsung works on another processor manufactured in 5 nm, which is oriented to the high range, called Exynos 2100, which will be used in Korean brand phones. There is no data on when this chip will be presented.
