Google begins to eliminate applications that access SMS and calls

Despite the fact that in Spain the use of SMS has practically disappeared, in other countries it continues to be used on a massive scale. That explains why Google updates its app so much Posts.

A few days ago we told you that the company was about to change the way we managed the SMS that were sent by using two-step verification. That they could be deleted automatically would be a fairly simple way to keep your inbox clean.

A new leak shows us that this function would come with a simple redesign of the interface, in which we will have categories for the first time.

Personal SMS, from the bank …

As can be seen in the screenshots obtained in 9to5Google, the messages application would obtain a selector with three columns where the SMS would be stored.

  • Personal: here would go the SMS we receive from people, be they contacts or unknown numbers.
  • Transfers: In this section will be those that we receive from the bank or stores when buying online.
  • OTPs: In this last column, the SMS used for the two-step account verification factor would be stored.

It is seen that in this last section the function we were talking about the other day can be activated, of automatic deletion of the messages that arrive for this use.

If we do not want to use this type of category, there is no problem since there is one at the beginning, called Everybody, that brings together the SMS that we have in the application.

This new function is in development and has been seen in the beta 6.8 of the Messages application but there are still at least a few weeks left before we have it available in bulk on all Android phones.
