Google will monitor Android versions of all manufacturers

One of the peculiarities of Android is the great versatility it has when it comes to being modified by a third party. Thus, in countries like Spain, an interface similar to Google’s is valued, while in the East a more colorful aspect is requested.

This also affects the internal functions of the manufacturer layers, which are adapted to different countries. The problem is that with so many variables on top of Android AOSP the potential problems skyrocket.

That is why Google has launched the initiative Android Partner Vulnerability Initiative (AVPI) to monitor possible problems that may exist.

Thanks to this layer of security, Google engineers have studied the behavior of interfaces such as EMUI from Huawei or Color OS from OPPO, among others. They have found some bugs, which they have started to publish on a website created for this, in addition to warning the developers of the different manufacturers so that the solvents.

In this way, Google takes a more proactive role when it comes to fighting the possible weaknesses that the different versions of Android may have, even if they come from modifications from other companies and not from the code they create.

It is not that this code cannot have bugs, but to solve them we already have the monthly security patches.

This is the third major initiative by Google when it comes to correcting problems in Android, after the Android Security Rewards Program and the Google Play Security Rewards Program.

The entry Google will monitor the versions of Android from all manufacturers appears first in The Free Android.
