Google Messages try to classify messages into categories

After Google surrender with Allo, all the company’s messaging efforts are focusing on the Chat protocol and Google Messages. A clever feature Google is already testing in its power messaging app easily access certain categories of messages.

It doesn’t work exactly the same to Telegram folders, but more like Gmail searches. These are buttons at the top of the chats and with which you can filter messages based on their content.

A smarter SMS app

Just yesterday we learned that the Google messaging application was preparing to automatically clear verification messagesbut it’s not the only smart feature on the way. Apparently, Google Messages may categorize messages yourself according to certain criteria.

This time it is not a function that has been revealed after inquiring into the application code, but it has been a Twitter user who has shown it, having it already active. These are, for now, six buttons with which you can filter the messages: all, personal, transactions, passwords, offers and more.

As you might expect, pressing one of these buttons will filter the messages to show only those in that category. Until now, the Google Messages search already incorporated some basic filters, but only to search in conversations with specific people or messages that included videos, places or links.

For now this novelty seems to be a very limited test in a few users and Google has not yet announced the change in its blog, so we must be patient, as these types of changes can take weeks or months to activate in all users.
