As usual, Google has given us a good morning with a doodle that today serves a tribute to Ignaz Philipp Semmelweisthe first doctor that stressed the importance of proper hand-washing.

Semmelweis was a doctor in the NINETEENTH century, and he was known as “the savior of mothers.”after discovering that this small gesture managed to reduce fever puerperal (inflammatory involvement, localized or widespread, that occurs after birth as a result of the changes and injuries).
Unfortunately, many of the companions of Semmelweis initially saw their ideas with skepticism, and it took several decades until their hygiene recommendations were validated by the scientific community.
