Motorola, after years of lethargy in the high range, has submitted a proposal that comes to compete directly with the opponents more powerful in the market. This is the Motorola Edge+ a terminal which, as its name indicates, wants to highlight mainly by the curvature of its screen, extreme in this case.
Let’s see how is this bet for the high range against rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S20+, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, OnePlus 8 Pro and others high-end models of this 2020since Motorola is coming for all with this new model.
Looking for differentiated by its curvature
While Samsung tries to reduce the curvature of their family Galaxy S, Motorola bet by one of the curves more pronounced than we have seen in years. Has a panel of 6.7 inches, virtually the same as the rest of their rivals. Here the most “small” is the Huawei P40 Pro, with a screen diagonal of 6.58 inches. You don’t win in resolution, this Motorolathat does not bet for the 2K as if you are doing both Samsung as OPPO.
Like the rest of its rivals are betting on the OLED technology and the refresh rate is set to 90 Hz. It is well below the S20, OPPO Find X and OnePlus 8 Pro, which go for the 120 Hz for your panels. In summary, a panel to the height (on paper) of the rest of his rivals in the high range, although not the most spectacular level of technical features.
Bet by Qualcomm is always a good idea
The Motorola Edge+ bet for the best processor from Qualcomm to date, the Snapdragon 865. This platform comes from the hand of the technology for 5G, so that the Edge+ is added to the list of devices compatible with this technology. This year all of its rivals are also 5Gregardless of whether or not they have a processor of Qualcomm. The exception here is the Samsung Galaxy S20+, which has a limited version to 4G, without the modem own 5G Samsung.
At the level of the internal memories the Motorola Edge+ comes pretty much loaded, in particular we found 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, being one of the winners in memories base. Except for the OPPO Find X2 Pro and the S20 version 5G, the rest of models is part of 8 GB of RAM, and a good part of the rest of your rivals, start in addition of the 128 GB of internal memory.
Speaking of battery, the Motorola Edge+ bet by a battery of 5,000 mAh. Thus becomes one of the models with more battery in the high range, although will have to see how it behaves at the level of hours of use. It is followed closely by models such as the S20+, the My 10, or OnePlus 8 Pro, with a battery of 4,500 mAh. The fast load is 18Wthe most “slow” within its competitors on Android. Rivals such as Xiaomi or OPPO up to loads of 65W, while Huawei is committed to 40W, OnePlus for the 30W and Samsung for the 25W.
Three cameras and a ToF to be the order of the day
The Motorola Edge+ bet for a main sensor of 108 megapixels. Resolution huge view as in proposals such as the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra or My Note 10. This sensor will accompany a telephoto lens, 12 megapixels, a wide angle 16 and a ToF 3D. It is as well with a configuration of three main chambers, the height of the rest of its rivals, also opt for a telephoto lens and ultra-wide-angle. Curious, here, the case of OnePlus, the only one that opted for a color filter (not very useful, in our tests) or the case of Huawei. The selfie is configured with a single camera 25 MP, without any type of infrared sensor.
How could it be otherwise, comes from the hand of Android 10, the same version that incorporated the rest of its rivals. Next to the OnePlus 8 Pro, is one of the few to offer a ROM “clean”. Xiaomi bet for MIUI, Huawei by EMUI, Samsung for One UI, and OPPO Color OS, layers of customization quite heavy.
