Whatever the reason, you may want to have control over some of the extensions that you have installed in Google Chrome and limit its use on certain websites. Here, we will learn some notions about it.
Know the permissions of your extensions
First of all, it is important to know that any order and action applied to an extension is reversible. For example, if at some point we regret having granted or limited a permit, we can revert to the previous state.
The most advisable principle is to know in detail all the information of each extension that we have installed in our browser. So we will know what we are up against. We can do this by entering Google Chrome. From there, we access the menu More (the three vertical dots located at the top right). Next, we click on More Tools and then on the tab Extensions.
We will then find a screen where all the available extensions appear. If we click on the button Details of each one of them, we will have access to all the information of this complement.
There will be a brief description about the function that the extension performs, its size, as well as the permissions to which it has access. Inside the Google Chrome browser, paste the following path in the urls bar: chrome: // extensions /. The menu will appear directly with a complete list of the installed extensions. Allow extensions to read or change data
- At this point, choose the extension on which you want to act and click on the button Details.

Allow or block the extension’s access to a website
In the same way that you can manage the permissions of a certain extension, it is also possible that a plugin does not have access to one, several or all the websites. Where this is possible, it is done as follows.
- Access the extensions menu in some of the ways that we have already detailed: More – More Tools – Extensions.
- Click on the button Details and within Permissions, you can add or remove addresses. If you don’t see this option, you must have the tab activated On specific sites within the section Allow this extension to read and change all the data of the websites you visit.
- Just to the right of the option Allowed sites, click Add and you will have to type the url of the web page on which you want to limit the access of the extension. You can include as many as you want. To undo this option, you just have to click on the three vertical points and choose Put off.
Uninstall an extension
If you want to cut your losses, it is also possible to directly disable an extension, if you want to try browsing without it before deciding on a definitive option. In this case, you must click on the slider button located under the extension icon and will be disabled.
One more step is to click on the button Put off. You can also do it by clicking on Details and, at the end of the menu, click on Remove extension. If you want to be even more sure, go to the puzzle icon next to the address bar. Click on it and then click on the button More (three vertical points). Here, choose the option Uninstall from Chrome, report inappropriate use and select Put off as the last step.
