The photo of the Facebook profile, and of any other social network, says a lot about you. It is like your showcase where you can sell yourself. This is even more important if it is a company profile, of course, and in this case it is more than convenient that you take care of its appearance. There are those who constantly change their Facebook image and others just the opposite, the years go by and they do not change. Whether you are one of the latter or not, another possibility to slightly modify its appearance is to change the frame, at least occasionally.
Facebook frames
Putting a frame on your profile picture can go beyond a simple ornament: many times it is a way to claim, honor, support or celebrate something, such as a campaign for or against a cause, a birthday, an anniversary or a calendar party, to give a few examples. Once the event is over, it is normal to delete it and leave the photo unadorned again. Or schedule it to delete itself so you can forget about it.
Facebook gives the possibility of customize these frames and to make them available to other users so that they can appropriate them and put them in their profile picture. So, if you work it out, you may see how it succeeds among the users of this social network (or at least among your friends).
Add frames to your profile picture
To decorate your Facebook profile photo with a box you have two options, do it with your PC or with your mobile:
From the computer:
- You open Facebook, and go to your profile where it puts your name, in the upper left corner.
You can also go directly to this site through the web enabled.
- You click on the photo and select Update profile photo.
- Select the Add frame option.
There a window appears, on the left, for you to look for frames already created by other people. In this case we have chosen the Hashtag #quedateencasa, as you can see in the screenshot below, as an example.
Once your photo is dressed in a new suit, Facebook allows you to choose how long you want to appear with this new look with default options (1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or never) or in a personalized way, as you prefer.
From the phone:
- Download the Facebook application from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in if you haven’t already.
- Tap on the three lines in the upper right corner.
- Choose your photo and tap View your profile.
- Within your profile, click on the camera icon next to your photo.
- From the options menu, choose Add frame and then Select profile photo.
It will depend on whether you want to add a new image with a frame or if you simply want to add a frame to the photo you already have. But the process will be identical in both cases so the steps to follow are the same …
- The frames section will open.
- You will see three categories: Suggested / Facebook / Flags
On top you can find a search engine where you can write what you want. For example, a movie that you like or a theme. Be it Batman or Coronavirus. The related frames will appear and you can touch on the one you want to add. Once it’s done, you’ll see a preview and can select how to fit your profile photo into the frame until you like the result.
At the bottom of the photo you will also find Use temporarily. Tap on this button to add a frame from your Facebook profile that will be deleted after a while. For example, for two, three or four days. You can choose any of the options that comes by default, but you can also touch on Customize to choose manually when you want it to be deleted: the exact day and time, as you can see in the screenshot.
How to remove frames
Facebook gives you the option to schedule when you want the frame to be automatically removed. But if you don’t want to do it like this or change your mind and want to remove it before that time, you have a very fast way to delete it:
- Open Facebook
- Click on the tiny photo that you will see at the top left
- Your profile picture will open in large
- Click on the camera
- The option Switch to the previous photo will appear and select it.
- Hit confirm and it will disappear instantly.
How to create frames
If you prefer to create your own frame for the photo of the popular social network, enter the web Frame Studio and follow these steps:
- After hitting the Create a frame button, at the top left, check the Profile photos box.
- Click on “Upload design” to upload the frame you have designed.
It has to fulfill a series of characteristics: it must be a PNG file with a transparent background and with a size of less than 1 MB. In the window on the right you can change the size and adjust the design to the photo.
- When you’re done, click the Next button (bottom right)
- Give your frame a name
- Choose availability based on location and schedule
- Click Next again
- At the top right, select the profile for which you want to publish the frame
- Hit the Publish button
Keep in mind that once published, you will not be able to change the name or the owner
Share created frames
If you created the frame from the Facebook page following the previous steps, you have the possibility of sharing it there so that other users can appropriate it for their photo.
- Open the web Frame Studio
- Find and select the frame that you have created and want to share.
- Click on the Actions section
- Next, tap on Share as page.
- Facebook allows you to add a text to the publication, if you want.
- Hit the button To post.
