We live in an era in which mobiles have long ceased to be used solely for making calls and have become true pocket computers. We are not talking only in terms of power, since in Spain we have been seeing for years how the best Samsung and Huawei mobiles can connect to a screen and become a complete computer.
Long before these two Motorola already believed in that future and was ahead of everyone with the Motorola Atrix, a mobile capable of becoming a computer that showed that the idea was good, but the technology was not yet fully prepared. A decade later Motorola tries again with a PC mode that is already available on its best mobile.
The most emblematic Android phones: Motorola Atrix EditionThe Motorola Atrix was a mobile phone that in its time innovated a lot by including a fingerprint reader and being able to become a computer. We tell you everything about him.
The Motorola Edge + already has desktop mode and becomes the best PC for video calls
In the last hours Motorola has announced the deployment of Android 11 for its flagship mobile, the Motorola Edge +. This update has taken a long time to arrive and is that most direct rivals have already updated their flagship phones, but at least we can get something positive, and that is that Motorola has added a great feature in its update that to a certain extent is able to justify your delay.
We talk about a desktop mode that when connecting our mobile to a computer screen, either by a USB C to HDMI cable or through a dongle (I use this one from HooToo on my Galaxy Note 10+ and Mac, I am very happy with it) . When activating this mode, we will have a desktop interface similar to a Windows computer, but with all the applications and data of our Android mobile.
One of the most powerful added values that Motorola has integrated is the possibility of using the cameras to make video calls. While we are using Teams, Duo, Meet, Zoom or the application you prefer, you can use both the front and rear cameras of 108 Mpx in your video calls, which makes the Motorola Edge + the best computer to make video calls.
At the moment this Motorola functionality is limited to the Motorola Edge + with the Android 11 update and may be limited to high-end models whose USB C port supports video output.
