Xiaomi’s mid-range does not stop growing. In 2020 we had the prolific range Redmi 9 and now that we are 2021 it was time to renew. Today Xiaomi has announced the family that will invade stores throughout the year and they do so with three models: Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Y the model that concerns us in this article, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S.
Xiaomi repeats last year’s strategy and, together with the normal and ‘pro’ models, brings us an S variant. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S is situated halfway between its presentation brothers, with whom it shares more similarities than differences, but let’s see what this smartphone offers us candidate to fight for the throne of the mid-range in 2021.

Sleek design with camera module that doesn’t go unnoticed
Xiaomi debuts a design with many changes in the new Redmi Note 10 range. The main differential point is the camera module. This is located in the upper left corner and has a rectangular shape with very rounded corners. The novelty is that the different lenses are placed at different heights and with a somewhat irregular arrangement: the largest main one above, the macro and the depth sensor just below and finally the angular lens.
Since we are talking about cameras, this is the main claim of the Redmi Note 10S with respect to the normal Note 10. Here we have a 64 megapixel main sensor, while his brother is left with 48 megapixels. The angle stays at 8 megapixels and both macro and depth sensor have 2 megapixels of resolution.
Continuing with the design, Xiaomi opts for a shape with curved edges on the back and a totally flat screen. The front stands out for being very well used, with the rear camera located on a centered island and very tight edges (although the lower or ‘chin’ is wider than the rest). Other design details: the fingerprint reader is located on the side of the device and is splash resistant (IP53 certification).
For the screen there is an important generational leap and that is that the Redmi Note 10S abandons the LCD to make way for an AMOLED screen. We are talking about a large panel, specifically 6.43 inches and FullHD + resolution. Of course, although it makes the leap to this technology, it does not do so with the refresh rate that remains at 60Hz.

Mediatek heart and battery for a while
The other key difference between it and the Redmi Note 10 is the processor, which in this case is a Mediatek Helio G95. According to Xiaomi, it is 31% faster than the previous model that carried a Snapdragon 720G. Yes, here no 5G support.
Regarding memory versions, the base model has 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Just above we have a version with 128 GB and finally one with 8 GB of RAM and also 128 GB. All have UFS 2.2 storage and are expandable with MicroSD.
Giant batteries have become the norm in the Redmi range and the Redmi Note 10S is no exception. We have 5,000 mAh capacity and 33W fast charge. In addition, Xiaomi reminds us that it brings a compatible charger with the maximum power supported by the terminal.
Versions and prices of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S
