Accessibility is one of the biggest challenges that operating systems of all kinds have when it comes to being designed. Not everyone has the same physical abilities and developers strive to give special functions to improve the use of their systems.
Android 12 has also improved in this section with respect to Android 11, updating the magnifying glass function with a floating window.
Two ways to expand content
The magnification function is not new in Android, but it is the possibility of activating a kind of floating window that works like a normal magnifying glass, that is, it amplifies only the part where we place it, which makes us not lose of view full screen.
In the image above we can see the difference between enlarging a window with the new function or enlarging the entire screen, with the existing function.
How to use the new magnifying glass feature
To activate this function we have to follow these steps:
- We go to the Mobile Settings.
- We select Accessibility.
- Click on the Expansion option.
- We select if we want only the normal function or also the new floating window.
For now this feature is in Android 12, specifically in the DP1 that we are testing, but we do not know if it will reach the stable version, although the logical thing is to think so.
