Apps to backup in the cloud
These applications will serve us to store all the data in the cloud. This gives us the security of hosting them in a place that we will always have available wherever we are and on any device, it will only be necessary to enter our account.
Movistar Cloud, an unlimited storage service
If you are a Movistar customer and have a contract line, you can use the unlimited and free your service Movistar Cloud. You can save all the files you want (videos, documents, photos, etc.) and access them from any device anywhere. Besides saving them safely, it allows you to share the files comfortably and quickly by e-mail, WhatsApp or social networks.
G Cloud Backup
An app that allows you to continuously backup your contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, documents, call logs and more to a secure location in the cloud. Easily transfer data from one device to another, and expand your storage capacity by keeping everything in the cloud. G Cloud offers 1GB of free storage that can be extended, although the backup app allows you to save the copy on SD cards if you prefer. Among its peculiarities, it shows the copied information in chronological order, to know when it is and if it is relevant when restoring it.
Degoo – 100 GB of free cloud storage
It is a platform in which you choose what you want to save in your backup, such as photos or documents, and that data will be stored completely securely in your cloud. Degoo lets you take your photos, videos, and documents with you anywhere. Plus, it offers 100GB of free space to store all that data, so there’s plenty to spare.
Box
An alternative to take into account, since it has been awarded several awards for its performance as a mobile service. A platform to have all the data on our Android always within reach and safely stored in the cloud. For logging in, the service gives us 10 GB free, where we can save multimedia content and files of all kinds such as folders and documents.
Apps to backup locally
Not all cloud services are adapted for any user. Backing up data in this way requires an internet connection, and we are not talking about just any connection. Not to mention that not all services have too large a space. Maybe we need something simpler and more instantaneous, such as a local backup.
Helium
One of the most complete options is Helium, which allows you to save a backup copy of both your applications, and their configuration, as well as contacts, messages, user accounts, etc. You can configure which elements to copy and which not, and to save the backup you have two options: take advantage of the SD card from the phone or upload the content to the cloud using Google Drive, Box or Dropbox.
Easy Backup
Another option to consider is Easy Backup. There are several apps with the same name on Google Play, which can be confusing. In any case, with Easy Backup you can save a copy of your installed applications, contacts, messages, call history, Wi-Fi configuration and other information that you will not have to reconfigure thanks to the backup. It also allows you to copy specific content such as photos, music and videos.
Super Backup
With Super Backup you can make separate copies of your messages, applications, contacts, call history, calendar data, and browser bookmarks. You have two saving options: save to the SD card, storage or in the cloud (Google Drive). And as an addition, Super Backup allows you to automatic copies or by hand when you decide.
My Backup
It allows you to make local backups and save them on your Android’s SD card, and all this from a clear and easy-to-use interface. For this reason, My Backup is especially suitable for those users who do not want to waste time configuring options. Tap on a button and your data will be backed up, although without the possibility of saving it in the cloud.
Applications to backup data while being root
Despite not being a technique adapted for the entire level of users (only suitable for those who understand this practice), having root access does not give you advantages when it comes to backing up photos, videos and files. The process to follow to make a backup of your files is the same as for non-root users. The difference you have being a root user means that you can make backup copies of the applications and their data.
Titanium Backup
One of the most popular applications for ROM change enthusiasts is Titanium Backup. Although the free version is sufficient for most users, the Pro version has some interesting additions such as relinking applications to Google Play (so that there are no problems when updating them) or the automatic upload of the backup to a service of cloud storage.
Migrate
Migrate is an alternative to Titanium Backup which has a much simpler interface and, among other things, allows you to make a backup copy of SMS, call list and contacts. Of course, it is important to note that the application is still under development and may be unstable, so proceed with care.
