Huawei has been in the news in recent days for an analysis carried out in ArsTechnica that indicated that its new operating system, Harmony OS, was really based on Android, being more a fork of it than a differentiated alternative.
Huawei talks about the resemblance of HarmonyOS and Android after the criticism receivedAfter showing the HarmonyOS design that was identical to Android 10 and the many subsequent criticisms, Huawei talks about its operating system.
Meanwhile, the development of its new versions of EMUI continues. The next, minor iteration will be EMUI 11.1 and it could come with the new Huawei P Series.
EMUI 11.1 is coming in March
According to some sources, Huawei will present a new version of its Android interface in March, although this time it would run on top of Harmony OS, not Android as such.
As seen in the analysis that we have commented, the reality is that the current version of Huawei’s system is still a modification of Android, so EMUI would not need many changes.
There will be news, of course, but they are not expected to be relevant. The version number itself, 11.1, indicates this, but we also know that the interface will change completely in a few months, when the jump to EMUI 12 is made. That won’t happen until the end of this year 2021, if there are no last minute changes.
It could arrive with the Huawei P50
It is very likely that Huawei will present the new version with the Huawei P50 Series, which should be announced in a few months, although first we should see the Huawei Mate X2, which will be made official in a few days.
The entry Huawei would present EMUI 11.1, based on Harmony OS, next month it appears first in The Free Android.
