Google has announced the spring 2021 Android update, in which they have emphasized 6 new features that begin to arrive from today during the next months. These are the six big news.
Password management is an area of great importance in preventing our personal information from being compromised. The Google password manager for Android from now on will be able to know when you log into an account if said page or application has had a data leak, inviting us to change the password as soon as possible. These kinds of reminders may seem a bit heavy at first, but they better insist that you go around with a password that cyber attackers may have accessed.
This feature comes to Google’s autocomplete service, requiring Android 9 or higher.
The next improvement is the Messages application, a messaging application that allows us to communicate both by SMS and RCS. From now on, this application will allow us to schedule the sending of a message, being able to send it at the day and time we choose. On a personal level, I think it is a huge improvement, since in our experience we use scheduled Telegram messages on a daily basis.
This novelty is available for Android Messages users who have Android 7 or higher.
TalkBack is one of the best accessibility tools, since it allows people with visual disabilities to use Android, guided only by voice messages that read the content on the screen.
Starting today, TalkBack gets better with more intuitive gestures, a new, more unified menu, a new control menu, and much more. The update is coming through the application itself from the Play Store, so you can now enjoy it.
One of the difficulties that the hands-free mode of the Google Assistant has is its use in hands-free mode while our mobile is locked. From now on that changes, and that is actions such as sending a message, playing music or activating an alarm or timer we can do them with our voice even if our mobile has the screen off.
This option is blocked by default, since it is a risk by allowing someone to perform some actions on our mobile without passing the fingerprint. To activate it, you will have to go to the screen settings and check the option to show personal data on the lock screen.
This feature had been in development for a long time and in September we could see how it began to be available to some users. Google has finally made the dark mode of Google Maps official for everyone, incorporating options to always have the map in dark mode, always in light mode or integrated with the system options in case you have Android 10 or higher.
Finally, Android Auto also receives some highly anticipated improvements, such as the ability to customize the home screen and Google Assistant shortcuts that appear on the touch screen (it is not recommended to use them while you are driving, though). Cars that have Android Auto with large screens may also have Google Maps and multimedia controls in split screen format.
Android Auto improvements will begin to arrive in the coming days to users who have Android 11 or higher.
