For more than a decade we have seen how the terminals were increasingly assimilated to a piece of glass with a screen as large as possible. However, although this is still the usual trend seen by users in Spain and in more countries, little by little we are beginning to see a shift in the industry.

Samsung stood out a little over a year ago when it introduced the first foldable, with permission from Royole and his Flexpai. The Samsung Galaxy Fold was a device with light and shadow, but it invented a new category.

Then we saw the Samsung Galaxy Flip, the Fold 2 and some models from other brands such as the Motorola Razr or the Huawei Mate X. But the year in which all the major manufacturers will have one will be 2021.

There will be foldable phones even from Google

Xiaomi folding mobile

According to the latest rumors, the number of folding mobiles in development would have skyrocketed. Rivals such as OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi, but also Google, would join Samsung’s new proposals.

Samsung will apparently announce three models. We assume that there will be a direct successor to both the Fold 2 and the Flip 5G, but also an inexpensive variant of the latter.

OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi are also developing their proposals. The first one already showed a rolling mobile prototype, although we suppose that it is not this model that the firm refers to. The same goes for Xiaomi, which has already shown its prototype a long time ago.

The biggest surprise comes from Google, which seems to be also developing a terminal, we do not know if as a conceptual element or as another member of the Pixel family.

To this should be added the approaches of brands such as LG or ZTE, which have not opted for folding screens but for other innovations.
